PBG Builders provided construction management services from concept through design/construction on the renovation of a 75 year-old hospital space on the Meharry Medical College campus. The conversion included constructing a HIV research lab and a women’s center for health, both funded by grants from the National Institutes for Health. The new lab contains 7 state-of-the-art wet research labs, and a BSL3 Lab. The Center for Women’s Health includes a gym and aerobic facility, an endocrine lab and a cellular lab, all with appropriate supporting infrastructure. PBG also provided additional mechanical and electrical infrastructure for the rest of the hospital in order to support the new labs. This included a complete reconstruction of the main physical plant cooling tower.
PBG Builders was responsible for the initial budget and schedule and guided the design to stay within the budget from the programming stage through working drawings. We also assisted in the development of the grant requests.

Powell does a superlative job of managing all aspects of these projects from conception to completion, including working with our architects and engineers. They understand our campus and our mission and function well to help keep our entire team on track, including our academic and research staff. In a nutshell, they are a valued partner to the College.
