IBP Material Handling Facility
This $2 million, 38,587 square foot facility for Iowa Beef Processing is a project designed and engineered by us in-house.
Storage for finished beef and pork products must be kept at 28 degrees. So the project called for installation of five, 7,000 pound, roof-mounted refrigeration units, as well as extensive piping.
The 40-foot joist bays were constructed on the ground. Panelizing bays on the ground increase productivity and also provide a safer working environment for welders. When finished, the bays were lifted into place.
As a design/build project, we were responsible for engineering and construction under one umbrella contract. It also enabled us to complete the project in less than six months. In fact, it was only 166 days from the start of design to completion of the project.
