Baptist 20th Ave South Building
With more than 270,000 square feet and 11 stories, this structure is an important component of the Baptist Hospital campus.
It primarily functions as state-of-the-art medical facilities and doctors’ offices. It is connected to the main hospital building by a pedestrian crosswalk. A horizontal chain and basket conveyor system is also used to transport charts, samples, x-rays, and other items to and from labs and other offices at the hospital.
One important feature is the added structural support built into the second floor. MRI equipment and the shielding that goes with it require extra supports.
The entire project was completed in less than 12 months, without any disruption of normal operations or reduction of any hospital services.
